Reunion Wx Forecast

Reunion Weather Forecast for Ontario as of Oct 16

Registration is closed.

Here is our Schedule of Events for those who signed up:

Registration packets will be available for check-in and pick up at the Library before the Campus tour and at the Dinner. Your registration packet will contain your name tag and dinner entree ticket.

Bill has worked very hard to make sure everyone has a "spiffy" name tag for this reunion with their picture from their time at school. For this reunion it's a magnetic name tag so you won't have holes in your clothing or a lanyard to deal with.

Your entree ticket will show your dinner order and any special requests like Gluten Free. Your server will collect the larger end of the ticket at the dinner, you keep the stub.

Historic Chaffey Home Tour and BYO Picnic Noon - 3:00PM

The Etiwanda Historical Society is hosting us with a BYO picnic and tour of the restore home of the founder of Chaffey High and Ontario, George Chaffey.

The Chaffey Garcia House was built in 1874 and is located at 7150 Etiwanda Ave. It is curated to show how the Chaffey's would have lived in the home.

Tours of the home are included. The fee would be $10 each and you can pay on the date. We have ample scholarship funds to cover it too, so just let Bill know. They also include a Picnic area where we can socialize over a BYO lunch. If it's raining, we'll move our picnic inside the historic Chaffey Barn.

If it's ready by then (it's tented for termites right now), the tour would include the adjoining Chaffey-Isle House. The Chaffey-Isle House, a sister house built by George Chaffey Jr., for his mother and his sister in 1884.

How this would work is after the Campus tour, which ends at Noon, you could head directly over to the property at 7150 Etiwanda Ave, Rancho Cucamonga, CA 91739, it's about a 20 minute drive away. There are ample delis, fast food places, etc. between Chaffey and the venue to pick up a picnic on your way. We would have our tours and picnic until 3PM so classmates can have an opportunity to rest a bit and prepare for the party which starts at 5PM.

Lunch recommendations: Old Town Baking Company at 8631 Baseline Road, Rancho Cucamonga (909) 945-0400 comes highly recommended. You can order your sandwiches customized to your liking on their website https://order.chownow.com/order/5213/locations/6767 to have them ready to pickup to save time. They have Veggie options available online, but if you want gluten free, you need to call them to order. Be sure to pick the Rancho Cucamonga location and not the San Bernardino one if calling.

Directions: From Chaffey you drive up Euclid to 16th, turn right and drive to Carnelian and Baseline (16th same Street). The bakery is in center to the south,  then back in baseline all the way out Etiwanda Avenue; turn left you will see the Chaffey house on your left.

5:00 PM – 9:30 PM: Reunion Dinner
In the Lake Silverwood Room at the Doubletree Ontario Airport (222 N Vineyard Ave).

Dress is "Casual"

In your registration packet you will find your entree ticket. When your server comes to collect them, keep the ticket stub and give the larger part to your server. It has the item that matches your dinner request.

By popular request, we are not planning anything other than socializing time during our reunion, so no big speeches or music to intrude on conversations. Just a brief welcome and a blessing before dinner by our class Chaplain, David Forden.

Special thanks to our volunteers for helping decorate and handle your check-ins: Anita (Salazar) Cardoza, Darlene (Rhoda) Ryan, Larry Andersen, and Pat (Hand) Kaufman.

We will have a "Memorabilia" table set up if you'd like to bring items from your days at Chaffey or before.

There is no "assigned seating" or place cards at the table, so you can pick who you sit with. We have 9 tables for 10 and 86 have signed up for the dinner.

Sunday, October 25 – Farewell Wrap-Up Lunch 1:00 PM – 5:00 PM

Sue (LeGrand) Coes has once again graciously volunteered her lovely home and yard for our final lunch 1460 Grove Ave. Upland CA 91786.

As of right now, the weather forecast for Sunday is Mostly Sunny with a high of 76 Degrees F.

We will keep Plan B as backup in case of rain. Then will will move our Wrap-up Lunch to the Chaffey Library. We will announce any change in location in the unlikely event it becomes necessary.

For lunch we have a great Mexican caterer "Felipe". http://www.felipescatering.com/ He catered for Bill's Tiger of the Year luncheon back in 2004 and his food is very good! This lunch is included in your registration fee at no extra charge, if we go over budget, it's Bill's treat!

Menu for lunch includes:
• Appetizers: Quesadilla Bar
• Salad with 2 dressings
• Grilled Chicken Tacos
• Carne Asada Tacos
• Rice
• Beans
• Grilled Veggies
• Salsa Bar including 3 salsas, Cilantro, Cebolla (onions), Limes, Pico de Gallo, Cheese, Chips

Why This Year is Special

As we reach this 60th milestone, many of us feel this will be our last "large-scale" reunion. We hope to make this a truly memorable gathering before transitioning to smaller, informal meetups (arranged by someone besides Bill) in the future.

Sadly as we get up there in years, we're losing classmates. Also, many are no longer able to travel or have the energy for big reunion events. So future reunions will be less structured and more ad hoc.

I (Bill) will keep the class roster and website updated as long as I'm able.
